Describe:
The task for this project was to be able to blend different shades with acrylic paint and try and create a piece that was as realistic as possible. This was a still life piece, and so the main objective was to recreate the scene from a certain angle and capture every detail, such as shadows, textures, lighting, etc. From my angle, the fruit was in a vertical direction on the table. The fruit was on top of a maroon platter, and the order went apple, lime, another apple, banana, and orange. The light was from an angle opposite of me, so the shadows were in the front. The materials were primarily acrylic paint.

Analyze:
One element of art perspective(space) helps develop the principle of design proportion. From my position while painting or my perspective, the proportions of the fruits were different for me than others. Since the fruit went straight back in a line, the farther away you got the smaller the fruit appeared. This perspective and way of painting gives the piece a more realistic look to it, which was the whole goal for this project. This is important because you need these two qualities to make a painting real and to practice paint what you see.

Interpret:
The purpose of this painting was to express realism and try and create the most realistic piece of artwork as possible. The textures in each piece of fruit and the shadows created by the fruit in the image illustrate how this piece has the intention to create a lot of detail. The idea behind this piece again was to create a still life that was realistic and to capture as much detail as possible so that our paintings could almost look like photos.

Evaluate:
Overall I am pretty proud of this piece and I believe that I was successful in creating a still life. I am happy with the colors of the fruit and the shading because they are accurate to the still life. I am also proud of the detailed spots and textures on each piece of fruit. One thing that I would improve in this piece is the coloring of the platter. The platter was more of a cooler purple than maroon. I enjoyed the process because I love to paint and it was fun to create a piece that I am very proud of.
