My Plan
My plan for this shoot is to see how I could take pictures of dancers who live in a crazy and chaotic world. I would like them to be in positions that show chaos and possibly take pictures in a dramatic location.
Photo Shoot
I took these photos outside of my dance studio with my friend. We took a lot of photos in different settings, such as near a fence, out in a parking lot, and near piles of snow.
Edited Photos
For these I went more abstract than I usually do. For one of the more abstract photos I drew white lines randomly across picture around the girl, which gives off that chaotic feel. For another photo I made the area surrounding the girl warp-like and blurry, again showing confusion and chaos. For the other two I made the pictures look more faded and dramatic.
Final Photo
This photo is unique and different compared to most of my other work, and so I decided to choose this for my project because it was something I've never done before. This piece I think is pretty strong and eye-catching, and I'm pretty proud of how its different than usual. In the photo there is a girl who is in a dance position, and there is a fence behind her. All around her there are white lines that are randomly drawn, which makes the photo look chaotic. The girl is wearing normal everyday clothing, and there is snow around her. There are white lines throughout the photo which shows movement, going in every direction. There is the overall shape of the lines which emphasizes the girl, who is the main object in the photo. The lines also show a form of unity throughout the photo. The main intent of this photo/project was to show how chaotic the world is and express that through dance. When I look at this photo, I think of the girl and how she's being overwhelmed by the everyday expectations that the world has of people, and she is struggling to keep out the chaos. The lines represent the chaos and how they are clouding over her. We all struggle with the judgements and negativities the world brings, and this photo expresses those hardships.
