Artist Statement
Art has been with me throughout my whole life, from when I was drawing squares and triangles to now, painting different things and dancing. This watercolor class has taught me so much more about techniques and styles in painting with watercolor. I have gotten more confident in my artwork and now know more of what my style is, not just in watercolor but in my other art class photography. My major influences are my family members, especially my mom who was a dancer and my aunt who is into graphic design.
My style includes lots of bright colors and images, along with mysterious affects. I like to work with cold-press watercolor paper in watercolor and semi-glossy paper in photography. I also like to use bright watercolor colors and masking materials to create sharp lines and edges. I use wet-on-wet techniques mostly and I like the five layer technique.
My life would be much different without art because I dance and if I didn't have it, I wouldn't have my friends that I made from dance and I wouldn't be able to express my love of dance. I've always considered becoming a dancer when I'm older, but know I'm starting to get into theater. I've also looked at photojournalism, which be fun to get on my feet and take pictures. Art has had a huge impact on my life, and it'll have a huge impact in my future, too.

Evaluation of Portfolio
Overall, I think that this portfolio is organized and neat. I have all the required pictures and information, and it's all clean. This portfolio shows my growth as a watercolor artist, from my first attempt to values and shading to my last self directed project, which has multiple different techniques and processes. I think I've grown a lot in my watercolor artistry because I never knew the techniques and ways to paint until I took this class.
