My Plan
For this project, I wanted to take a picture of a dancer who is dancing with passion or someone doing the dance symbol of life, which is where their arms are extended forward and are crossed over one another. I might want to have this photo faded or black and white.
Photo Shoot
I took these photos at my friend's house in the evening. First, I asked my friend to sit in the grass and pose, crossing her arms which shows the dance symbol for life. I also took pictures in trees to show her living life and having fun. My friend also had a basketball hoop, and I incorporated some dance photos with the hoop and a basketball. I got a lot of different angles and shots of each position, with different lighting and shadows.
My Edited Photos
I chose these photos because they each had something unique about them. I edited two of them black and white, one because it looked really elegant and the other I did spot coloring with a basketball. The other two, I used the matte and faded filters because I thought it made them look more dramatic.
My Printed Photo
I took this picture in the grass with leaves surrounding the girl. I asked her to pose it a position that is a very common pose in the ballet world. Her arms are crossed over one another, and that represents life in the dance world. I edited the picture black and white because I thought it made the photo overall look more elegant and dramatic. In the photo, there are many leaves surrounding the girl. There is a sidewalk in the background, along with little plants and bushes. The girl is looking away in the distance, and she has an intense/ dramatic look on her face, helping with the dramatic theme in the photo. Her arms are parallel to to her leg, which is extending in front of her with her foot pointed. One EoA is the bright colors of the leaves which shows the PoD contrast against the black of her leotard and the grass. Another EoA is the shape of the dancer which shoes the PoD emphasis because her shape against the grass brings her out, drawing the eye of the viewer to her immediately. Another EoA is the texture of the leaves against the grass which shows PoD unity because all throughout the ground there are leaves, which shows how there's a unified object embedded throughout most of the photo. When I look at this picture, I see a dancer who looks strong but sad at the same time. Her arms are making the symbol for life, and maybe since she looks distant-like her life might be hard right now. Or, she could be showing since her position is strong how she is a strong and powerful person in her life. I really like these pictures, I think that they were what I was planning on doing and they turned out what I wanted them to be. I really like the other picture of her where she is in the same position as the picture above, but it has a side angle shot of her and its colored. I think that looks really professional and its really pretty. I wish I could have taken a picture of a dancer dancing and getting blurred shots so that it shows how the dancer is alive and dancing passionately...maybe next time.
